Lili's back to swordhaus - she's made her triumphant return after tracking down Nagasone like she wanted to - and... she doesn't really see a reason to leave just yet, no. She's missed a lot, apparently. So she's going around the rooms and at some point she probably runs into Kanesada.
Except not actually running into him because she's not interested in getting too friendly, okay.
Still, she stares rather openly, tilting her head.]
And who are you?

[Okay, see, there's a lot of people who live in Swordhaus, so one other person hanging around is hardly a problem. Kanesada probably doesn't even notice when other people visit unless it's Hijikata, but then again Kanesada can't be assed to do much of anything when it isn't his business, so that's not saying much.
Regardless, he can't stay in his room all day, especially with no Kunihiro to spoil him rotten, so it's with a heavy heart that he has to go to the kitchen himself just to get some munchies. But he makes sure he looks presentable (hair nice and brushed, Shinsengumi haori draped just so, etc.) first.
And then he is stopped by an unfamiliar face. A feminine one, at that.
Her question is very abrupt, though, almost demanding, and Kanesada plants his hands on his hips.]
He places his hands on his hips and she pauses, observing, before crossing her arms. There. Now they can look equally fabulous and unimpressed with each other.
(What is this, Mean Girls?)]

Another sword? [And then she glances to his haori, pressing onward.] A Shinsengumi sword?
But her guess is enough to lift his mood! Kanesada is proud to be a sword, and proud to be a certain person's sword, so this part of the conversation is suddenly very good. His lips quirk up into a smile and he leans forward a little bit to tell her more about himself.]
A cool and strong sword. And you got it. I belonged to Hijikata Toshizou.
[He's less hesitant now when it comes to revealing his history since so many people have told him he won't change history just by existing in the same place as Hijikata himself (even if the Hijikata here isn't his Hijikata), but he still keeps some things to himself.]
Anybody who describes themselves as strong and cool immediately loses their right to actually be considered strong and cool. Noted. And considering the namedrop, this is where Lili officially decides that she's talking to a giant nerd of a sword.
It actually gets her to relax a little, though she does raise a brow.]
I know everyone here, which is why I stopped when I realized I didn't recognize you.

I live here instead. It's more natural to be around everyone else from the Citadel, too, and when Aruji was still here, it was my duty to be near him in case he needed me.

Lili immediately has regrets as she realizes that she might be stuck here talking to a stranger for some time. A stranger that she's not even sure if she likes yet? Fuck, maybe she should've just kept walking-
Except her eyes flash in recognition when he mentions 'Aruji' and she doesn't really know what that means, but it sounds like 'Haruji' and - that's right.]

That seems to be the case, but he was...gone when I got here, though he showed up not long after.

So I don't really know what it means? But he's gone again, that's all I know for sure. I just don't know if he'll show up again.

Having the other swords here is enough like home that things aren't too terrible, but Haru's absence is a big, empty void where there shouldn't be one, and this place has proven dangerous enough that they can get damaged or broken, so without Haru to fix them, it's admittedly pretty worrisome.
Not that Kanesada will just come out and say that, though. He doesn't even know Lili!]
Of course we're fine, we're swords! Besides, we'd be doing Aruji a disservice if we couldn't take care of ourselves while he's gone.
